History

History, as Herodotus says, is the praise of great men of the past. To understand history is to know the stories of these great men, to see the patterns in their stories, and to better understand human nature.

This course will chart our history, especially focusing on Western Civilization and God’s Providence working in history. Initially showing how God led civilization up to the fullness of time, when the Divine Word became Man and founded his church, the Holy Catholic Church. From that point, we follow the wild ride of the bark of Peter, through heresies, persecutions, periods of great corruption, and times of great flowering, all the way up to the Modern Day.

“It is better by noble boldness to run the risk of being subject to half of the evils we anticipate than to remain in cowardly listlessness for fear of what might happen.”
