Latin

Many schools teach Latin as a codex, something for translating ancient texts. We will be teaching Latin as a language, so that the students can interact and communicate with each other. This “Nature Method'', developed by the Danish educator Hans H. Ørberg, allows the students to learn in a natural way. Through observation and noticing context, the students grow in an understanding of Latin and sharpen their faculties of observation and reasoning.

In classes there is minimal English spoken, to provide an immersive situation for the language. Phrases will be used, and brought into the other classes and the rest of the school day. They will have Ørberg’s Latin guide to help them move forward along this path.

"The Church values especially the Greek and Latin languages in which wisdom itself is cloaked, as it were, in a vesture of gold."

John XXIII, Apost. Const. Veterum sapientia
