Jacob Visovatti
Chant, Music History
Mr. Visovatti has loved and been moved by music for as long as he can remember, from his older sister’s rock albums as a kid to American and Celtic fiddling in high school, orchestral and chamber masterworks in college, and the Church’s treasury of sacred music after his conversion as an adult. After growing up playing cello in the Saline public schools, he studied music at Ball State University, focusing on cello performance with auxiliary training in music education, voice, and orchestral and choral conducting. While his family (wife and four young boys) and career in software engineering keep him busy, Mr. Visovatti sings in local parish choirs, plays gigs as a classical cellist, serves as substitute conductor for parishes and other events, and has taught sacred music to high schoolers at a Catholic homeschool co-operative. Mr. Visovatti is convinced that by immersion in sacred music, each individual can learn to respond to the ways in which God calls to the soul through beauty. Outside of family, music, and software, Mr. Visovatti enjoys strength training and dreams of being an arborist and woodworker.
